Bulls win race for Sheriffe

09:42 - 18th, Sep 2008

Bradford Bulls have beaten off interest from other Super League sides to sign Harlequins winger Rikki Sheriffe.

The 24-year-old rising star will join his younger brother, Jode, at Odsal after agreeing a two-year contract with his hometown club.

"As a kid I always wanted to go on and play for the Bulls," said Sheriffe.

"A couple of other top-six sides were keen and Quins wanted to keep me, but I only ever wanted to come here. There was no choice for me once I knew."

Bulls coach Steve McNamara added: "He's not the finished product yet but is an excellent dummy half runner which is something we have been short of this year.

"When you look at his stats he has some of the best offensive numbers around.

"I thought Rikki was outstanding in the first half of the year and was on the verge of an England call-up and only injury prevented that, but he certainly has the potential to play internationally."
