Southampton manager Alan Pardew has called on his side to continue to climb the League One table after they finally dragged themselves out of the relegation zone. After starting the campaign with a ten-point penalty, the Saints now occupy 20th place in the league, and sit two points ahead of Brighton in the fourth and final relegation spot following their 1-0 victory against Wycombe Wanderers on Tuesday evening. It has taken a while for the former Premier League outfit to get their heads above water but Pardew now hopes they can start their charge. Speaking to the Daily Echo, he said: "It's very important for us because it gives us a target of mid-table and how quickly can we get to mid-table. "The last 16 or 17 games we've been probably as good as anyone in the division with the exception probably of Leeds." |
