Port Vale manager Micky Adams hopes to sign a new defender on loan after learning that Gareth Owen may be sidelined for a fortnight. Owen will have minor surgery after damaging his cheekbone on Tuesday. He had to be substituted in the first half of the 2-2 draw with Torquay United when he took a knock to the face while wearing a protective mask. Adams told the Sentienl: "I've already made some enquiries, because we don't want to leave ourselves short of defensive cover. "It's disappointing for Gareth. We've looked solid away from home and he's been a part of that, but he has to get this right for himself." Meanwhile, former Ipswich Town defender Curtley Williams is training with the club as he tries to earn a contract at Vale Park. |
