Koln coach Zvonimir Soldo has been given the dreaded vote of confidence by club president Wolfgang Overath.

The Croatian was only appointed in the summer but saw his side slip to 15th place in the Bundesliga table after being thrashed 4-0 at home by Hoffenheim at the weekend.

"The coach has our faith and I say that very, very clearly," said Overath, who took a gamble when appointing the rookie former Dinamo Zagreb coach as Christoph Daum's replacement in June.

"We have the quality. If you go through our whole team right from the back, the quality is there.

"But having quality does not bring results. The team cannot get out of this alone and the coach cannot either. He has got to work together with the team to get us out (of trouble)."
