Aberdeen boss Mark McGhee is delighted to have defender Zander Diamond close to a return to action following foot surgery. The 24-year-old has not featured for the Dons since mid-August, but is expected to resume full training in just over a week's time. McGhee told the Aberdeen Express: "We anticipate he will join the main squad a week on Monday, which is great news. "Everybody at the club thinks that Zander is too good a player not to be in the team. That would probably mean dropping one of the other two to make room. "Which one suffers is really up to Andrew Considine and Jerel Ifil. Those two should be saying to each other 'let's help each other to make sure Zander can't get back in'. "That's how I would go about things if I knew someone who is competing to play in my position is about to come back." |
