Former Newcastle United boss Joe Kinnear is the latest manager to throw his hat into the ring for the Scotland job. Kinnear, who stepped down from a spell as caretaker manager of the Magpies in February, is keen to replace the sacked George Burley at the Scotland helm. The 62-year-old former Wimbledon boss has recovered from the heart bypass operation which ended his St James' Park tenure. "When I left Tottenham I moved on abroad and my first job abroad was as manager of India," Kinnear told Sky Sports News. "I was out there for two years, so I started off with an international side. "I missed out on, I think, two occasions to be the manager of Ireland, which would always have been a dream job for me. "But sure, why not? I'll throw my hat in the ring. If they felt they wanted to interview me, I'd be more than happy to go along and talk." Dundee United boss Craig Levein and Walter Smith of Rangers are the two frontrunners for the job. Former Scotland international John Collins has already confirmed his interest alongside ex-international manager Craig Brown and current Kilmarnock boss Jim Jefferies. |
