Internazionale striker Adriano has been hit with a two-match ban after being found guilty of simulation during Wednesday's 3-1 defeat by AS Roma in Serie A. The Brazil international was found guilty of diving to win a penalty after attempting to take the ball around goalkeeper Doni in the second half of the match. Adriano won the spot-kick which Marco Materazzi converted, but Serie A's disciplinary commission handed down the ban after reviewing video footage of the event. "The forward committed simulation by dragging his left foot along the grass to search for contact with the goalkeeper's body," confirmed a statement from the disciplinary panel. "The Inter player's fall to the ground was not preceded by any meaningful contact." Inter are expected to appeal after club president Massimo Moratti described the ban as 'shameful'. |
