Fears that England star Stuart Broad has suffered a serious shoulder injury have been allayed. However, it has been decided that Broad will not feature in England's remaining warm-up matches in South Africa after jarring his bowling shoulder in the 185-run victory against the Eagles at Bloemfontein on Friday. Broad was sent for a precautionary scan which revealed no major damage but he did not feature in Sunday's match against the Warriors and will be left out Tuesday's outing against South Africa A. Broad, who took 2-28 in four overs against the Eagles, woke up in pain on Saturday morning as the team prepared to travel to Kimberley for their second warm-up match. Team-mate Eoin Morgan said of Broad: "Stuart's a fantastic player who's on top of his game, but it creates an opportunity for somebody else to come in and fill a slot. "I'm backing whoever is in the squad to come in, prove themselves and do well." |
